Is AirPrint necessary if a printer is cable connected to a time capsule

When using my 3rd gen Ipad connecting to my wireless network using the time capsule, is "AirPrint" necessary if my printer is USB cable connected to my time capsule?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

AirPrint is the only native printing mechanism available in iOS. So any printing device you wish to use must support AirPrint for the iPad to be able to print to it without using one of the third-party printing apps, most of which have limitations. The Time Capsule is not, unless I've missed something, an AirPrint-compatible print server, so you will either need a printer that directly supports AirPrint or will need to investigate one of the printing apps such as PrintCentral.

Regards.
