Left margin indent refuses to disappear

The entire paragraph is an indented block. In other words, the second, third, etc. lines refuse to go back to the margin. Dragging the inverted triangle at the top should fix this...but it refuses to drag. If I try to delete the space to the left of the text in line 2, it refuses to delete. This paragraph (and others similar) arrived in my pages document via a scan/copy/paste from another document...but you would think that now that they are in Pages, they would follow Pages instructions about margins. Any thoughts? Thank you. Pages '09, Mountain Lion.

In your Pages toolbar, click the view selector and choose Show Invisibles.

What happens if you select the indented paragraph and then choose the body paragraph style from the expanded style drawer? Was it set to right-alignment by the inclusion process?

Open the inspector as shown, and see if there are hidden tabs you can remove with the + - buttons.
