Safari quits in middle of programs, videos, etc. almost every day. How can I scan for problems?

While using Safari, I get the color pinwheel and machine locks up almost everyday, while running searches, reading e-mails, videos, etc. How can I can for a specific problem. The only download I have done, is MS Office for Macs.
