i really hope someone can help.
I accidentally deleted the LaunchDaemons folder on my little brother's mac and now on startup cannot get passed the grey screen with the apple logo.
I've tried booting in Safe Mode but didn't work, then tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM, and also tried a starting the laptop in single-user mode to reach the command line to use the /sbin/fsck -fy command line (as adviced in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417), but nothing of all this worked.
Is there a way to put the .plist files i deleted back on the HD without having to re-install the whole system?
I'd very much appreciate some help as i don't know what to do anymore ;(
Start up the computer with the DVD inserted as far as it will go without forcing it. After the startup chime press and hold down the 'C' key which will cause the computer to "suck" in the DVD and begin booting from it.
Or you can boot the computer as above and hold down the 'C' key then insert the DVD into the slot.
In either case the DVD should end up in the optical drive. If it doesn't boot from the DVD, then restart and hold down the 'C' key after you hear the chime.
