iPod Classic no longer works with 2011 Nissan Rogue

The iPod itself works fine, but suddenly -- not after a sync or anything -- when connected to the USB interface of the stereo in my Nissan Rogue, the radio just displays "Reading files." It sees the iPod, but I can't browse the device or listen to music. The "reading files" message just stays on the radio display. Everything else about the radio is fine. Anyone else have this problem with their iPod?
