Shuffle will not play in my car!

I have downloaded songs to my "Shuffle" and works fine with the ear pods. It will not play in my auto!. I have an ipod that works just fine, but the "Shuffle" displays No song, No Data, or Unsupported Ver. when I push the "aux" button to play! Help
