I have open this in preview and emailed it to my husbands pc and it is always 225?  Is there anywhere on the mac where you can set a size to save images as?

This is the problem.  It is a very very strange situation. No there is no setting like this.

The images should be saving at the original size (they seem to be for the rest of us) and should be able to be attached or included in any email and the recipient should see it at the original size.

Can you explain, in steps, exactly how you're downloading the images? I just used control-click and select Save image as...

I tried it both in Safari and Firefox with same results.

I think it has to do with the Mail settings in sending the pic since the OP said it only changed size once it is received by her husband....

I don't 'do' Mail, but if sent as an attachment, I see no reason that the photo would be 'downsized'...

Yes, because you can choose the size to send attachments in - you can downsize them and that may be the default setting - just a guess, but it seems possible.

Ah! But does that affect attached files as well (photo files)?

    You may be onto something...

Yes it does. I just put a photo into the message window and hit the image size popup. Mail has had this option for as long as I can remember and I've used it when I had a rather large image to get it down to a more reasonable size without having to use Photoshop, Graphic Converter, or whatever.

Ok I seem to have created a stir.  I am sure this is somthing on my end but the actul file saved on my computer is 225x225 as soon as it is saved.  To get it saved i right click on the file, click on save as and type in the title and click save? It has nothing to do with emails as even before I send it, it is on my computer as 225.

Not a stir - just a friendly exchange of ideas. So, if it does it on your computer, then I guess we need to start over since none of us have that problem and can't replicate it.

I could not accept this behavior, it would cripple my work flow.

I tried to line out a course of action above- you can choose to ignore the problem:

I would open a guest account and see if it is the same or sorts itself.

If it sorts, reboot into SafeBoot Mode and try your download again. If it works here, you have a third party app interfering. Delete the problem app?

Best course of action I can think of is Recovery mode, and reinstall the OS
