Q: how to clear home sharing error 11556

If you're doing something related to iTunes, this might explain:

"Error 11556"

This alert occurs when iTunes is trying to do something not allowed by the iTunes Store in that country.

The most common example of this is trying to sign in while limited to iTunes U by Parental Controls.

I encountered this problem and solved it by going to iTunes...Preferences...Parental, and un-checking "Disable...iTunes Store". THis is what my prefs looked like when it worked:
