Logic Pro missing audio files and instrument patches

Good morning

Last week I downloaded Logic Pro version 9.1.8 from the App store.

I have downloaded all the additional copntent listed

I am running a brand new IMAC with OSX10.8.2

The instrument choices and patches show up.....

However many of the audio files and instrument patches are missing.

Prerecorded songs can be loaded but...

When I open a logic song (recorded on my prior IMAC) and recorded within Logic Audio 9.0.0, I get consistent messages such as

EXS24 Instrument "Classical piano.exs" Audio file "BDorfer f O d#.aif not found.

This happens with most most of the patches.

Many thanks for your help

HMm.. yes, I have the boxed version. I decided to format and reinstall logic without the content from the DVDs to see what's different, and when I open my projects, some of them seem to miss samples like its happening to you, meaning, logic pro 9 APP Store version, is not as complete as boxed version... but it's ok for me, I'm watting for Logic Pro X , since I'ven using 9 from the beginning (summer 2009)

Hi again

Is is possible to copy the audio files from the orginal Logic Pro 9 on my older Imac (10.6.8) and import them into the new, downloaded Logic Pro 9.1.8 on the new Imac (10.8.2)

Part of the problem is that I was previously using Logic Pro from the box CD set, but when I migrated to the new Imac, it would not recognize the original seial number . I tried several times - but each time it appeared as though the serial number was missing a couple of digits.

In desperation I downloaded Logic Pro 9.1.8 from the App store - and then the problem arose of missing audio files as listed above....

Thanks

The only things missing from the App Store version compared to the Boxed set are the loops and samples that came as part of Soundtrack Pro and those are no longer available..

However, the sample you mentioned is actually part of the GarageBand Library.... Did you install GB too?

If you did so... then... three things..

First, try using FindAnyFile

http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/

(Download the version on that webpage and not the App Store version)

..and do a search for BDorfer.. (Just that and nothing else) and see if it finds your missing file.

If it doesn't find it.., install GB and try again... (You may need to rebuild Spotlight afterwards as described below)

If it does find it then..

Two.. rebuild GB's Loop index as this fixes all kinds of weird things in Logic... (and yes, i know its loops not samples but it's worth trying based on past experience fixing these kinds of issues)

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2443?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

and... if that doesn't work..

Three... Have you reindexed Spotlight?

http://osxdaily.com/2012/01/17/rebuild-spotlight-index/

Logic uses Spotlight to find everything it needs.. so that is worth a try too if everything else fails..

Me again

Thanks for your help.

I did everything you suggest - reindexed Garage Band loops etc., reindexed spotlight etc

Even with find any file the missing audio files do not show up.

All the files that are missing are EXS24 linked.

They all show as .exs extensions

As far as I can see everything that was in the old Logic audio folder on my other Imac computer is in the audio folder for logic int the library on this computer after the download...

= here is a list - perhaps you can spot something that I am missing

Apple loops for GarageBand

Apple loops for Soundtrack Pro

ILife Sound Effects

Jam Pack 1 (with .caf extensions)

Jam Pack Remix Tools

Jam PackThythm section

Jam Pack Symphony Orch

Jam Pack Voices

Jam Pack World

I cannot work onmy new computer on any of the current projects that I am involved in because the elements are missing!!!

The worst case scenario, I imagine, is to repurchase the full studio version. Will that solve the problem?

Thanks again.

Hello again

Yes - I think so at least.

Under "additional content" within the Logic program it indicates that everything available is installed.

Is there another place to look for downloads?

Which folder should normally contain the loops that are missing - almost entirely classical instruments...

Is there also another place to download sounds for logic - i,e, third party suppliers?

Can I use any of my older VST stuff (from 2000 - 2001 Cubase)?

Frustrated - but hopeful

Many thanks again

Eugene
