got iphone 4s unlocked to use in Ecuador! Cali Apple store said there were Apple stores in Ecuador--not so! Anyone have info on where in Cuenca I can get activated? Can any place that activates/sells cell phones do so?

Hi I bought my iphone 4S unlocked in Los Angeles to use in Ecuador just before leaving. Apple salesperson looked on his list & said there WERE Apple stores in both Quito & Cuenca. I'm now in Cuenca & there is NO Apple Store-- I've been told that only certain cellular stores can activate my iphone! Anyone have advice on how-to find the authorized reps here??? Can't connect on this q directly with Apple support! THANKS
