Time machine backups are failing, telling me I have 100 times more data than disk space. I do not have 100 TB of data to back up, and have plenty of free space on the designated drive. What gives?

Not much info pertaining to my problem, but downloaded the widget and here is an excerpt of the error: "Starting pre-backup thinning: 2516582.40 TB requested (including padding), 2.60 TB available"
