iPhone 4, call log empty

I have just bought a 2nd hand iPhone 4 to replace my 3gs which has seen better days. When I plugged it into my laptop I restored it to the last back up of my 3gs. Everything was okay until I looked at the call log, it is empty and never changes.

I've googled it and it seems the call log file gets corrupted when restoring a phone from a different phones back up, I cannot find a soloution and I certainly aren't giving apple £25 to speak to someone!

Any ideas?

Try Resetting All Settings from Settings > General > Reset.

You could also make sure you have the latest carrier updates.

If that doesn't do it, you'll have to restore the iPhone and set it up as a new device.

try a hard reset by pressing and holding the home button and sleep/wake button until apple logo appears.

I've all these and the only one that works is setting up as a new device but Ilose all my contacts which isn't good!

You can sync your contcts to your computer or iCloud and then sync them to the new phone after setting it up as a new device.
