Why do you need to drop iWeb when you go to another website (= webhosting) company?
iWeb will still work, with or without MobileMe.
Did you bother to search/browse this forum for an answer?
I am now hosting succesfullywith GoDaddy, but had concern with the basic IWeb software not working at some point in the future. Valid concern?
If you are using iWeb '08 you should know that it doesn't function properly with Mountain Lion. Stay with Snow Leopard until you don't need iWeb anymore.
I am using iWeb '08 with a small web site that i manage and it is on a commercial host site.
1. It is working fine and should continue to do so. The host site should not care what you use to develop your web site.
2. Contrary to some posts here, I am using it on Mountain Lion and it is fine. Yes, the folder where all the info is stored is hidden, but you can find i.
So far, no issues. This is a fairly simple program and it should be able to be used for quite some time.
Here is my concern... Apple does this frequently... it pulls products that people have been dependent on and replaces it with no alternative. Then, you feel lost. The alternatives are difficult to adpat too. Apple plays this game way too often.
If it's not broken don't fix it. As long as iWeb 08 works with your system and does what you want there's no need to change. If you upgrade your system to Mt. Lion you would need to either obtain iWeb 3 or get a new website creation application.
If you think at some point you will want to have a site that's geared to mobile devices then you would need a different application and techniques for creating the site. Roddy has excellent information on this aspect when you're ready to make the change.

Thanks for the responses. If I decide to move away from IWeb creation software, any suggested companies to look at? I looked briefly at GoDaddy and Rapidweaver and was not impressed. Somebody out ther must offer the ease and simplicity of IWeb for dummies like me!
EasyWeb is under development and is supposed to be announced at MacWorld at the end of the month.
If you know any HTML coding you might give Flux a look. Look at their video tutorials. If you're not familiar with HTML coding it won't be worth your time.
