I have bought my first iPad, turned it on in my hotel room and started to configure it. The hotel has a subscription WiFi and when I try to connect it I get a message saying, "Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes"

I haven't been able to find a home page with Safari or any settings the only options I find are WiFi settings and I don't know what any of them mean eg DHCP, BOOTP, STATIC, IP Address, subnet mask, router, DNS, Search domains, Client ID (which is blank)  And Renew Lease, HTTP PROXY.

Can anyone talk me through this?
