Is my GPU dead even though I can boot from disk

I canboot from CD, utilities says HDD is fine, I've got a Imac G5 1.8 PPC, but when I go to start from HD I get a black screen (although often after seeing the initial screen and circle).

Could it be that my GPU is up the spout? I have done a shed load of video on this baby, and it all happened when I moved it!

It has started up once but the screen was flickering and did look fragile!

If it is GPU - how do I tell for sure and can I fix myself?

Thanks

Safe boot will skip the GPU.

hold down the shift key then power on. There is a software fix for this.

You may want to run these "standard" fixes if the problem persists.

1) Check the amount of free space on your harddrive. You should have a several gigs free.

2) You should run disk utility

a) verify the disk

b) update your permissions.

3) Try a safe boot.

Shutdown your machine. Hold down the shift key. Poweron. Wait awhile Wait awhile while you harddrive
