Both my iPad and my iPhone crash Facebook about 2-3 seconds into me starting the app. I can briefly see the Facebook icon and menu, then the screen goes back to home. I've deleted and re-installed on both devices, but it's still not working. Software is up to date on both devices.

Double clicks the home button, hold on to the Facebook app, and a ⛔will appear. Tap it and restart Facebook.
I did that for both the ipad and iphone and they still crash exactly the same as before. It's got to be a different fix than that. thanks, but............
I'm having the same problem with Facebook on my iPad. I've tried all the solutions listed and nothing works!
Have you deleted a message thread that was at the top of your Messages? If so, have someone send you a new Message and this message will appear above the one that had been deleted. This should allow the app the work properly. Apparently Facebook tries to see the top message in your messages list and when a message that had been deleted no longer appears, the whole app crashes. Putting a new message at the top of the messages list seems to resolve it. Hope this helps.
