Glad I could solve your problem! Err... not.

Is the date and time correct on your system. Double check and be sure.

If it is, then open Finder, click Go at the top of your screen, then Go To Folder. Put in '/etc/hosts' (without quotes) and click Go. The hosts file should be selected. Double click it and it should open in text edit. If you see any lines in that file with apple.com or verisign.com, put a '# ' infront of it (no quotes, and note there's a space after the #). Close and save the file, then reboot.

Try again.

Im having this issue as well but theres a bigger story behind it, i started having issues with Facetime and iMessage on my iMac, the same "Could not sign in to iMessage" error as above, i checked loads of forums on how to fix this but nothing helped so i called Apple Technical Support and after trying multiple things they decided to put my iCloud account in to troubleshoot mode which will probably be for the next week while they work on it, This meant i had to change my password to a password they provided so they could have access to the account which also meant i had to update the password on anything else connected to the iCloud account.

Strange thing is my iPhone is working fine after the password update and so is iCloud on a Windows machine, i can also log in to icloud.com like normal but when i try to sign in to iCloud on SP i get this error, maybe its the troubleshooting mode or something else hmm...

Yeah i was going to say did you not read any of that 😀 I have been using the service since .Me was launched, everything is still there when i log in to icloud.com so i just use that until Apple Technical support are done with this whole troubleshooting mode they have put my account in to and then see where we are.

Ill post back here if i can give any info that might help anyone.
