I have an Ipod Classic 80gb stuck in recovery mode and won't restore. I've tried all the restart options and no luck. Any help ?

I got an Ipod Classic 80gb used off of Kijiji. The Ipod worked when I got it, but upon trying to sync it to my Macbook Pro it went into recovery mode, and won't allow me to reinstall. It just breaks down part way through. I've tried unmounting and erasing it, but it still breaks down.

I've tried the resetting option, but that does nothing as well. I have also gone through Itunes to restore, but like the others, it just breaks down. It says it's possibly corrupted as well.

If anyone knows how to fix this it would be very helpful.
