how do install os 10.6 onto a macbook without a working dvd drive. I have another  Macbook pro running 10.7.5 which does have a working drive but no "Remote Install Mac OS X" program and DVD with OS 10.6.3 on it. Help!

"Remote Install Mac OS X" is only compatible with the MacBook Air and it's only on Snow Leopard and Leopard, not Lion and Mountain Lion.  You have to repair the SuperDrive of that computer or buy an external optical drive to reinstall OS X

If both Macs have firewire ports you can connect them and restart the older one in target disk mode. That hard drive will appear on the desktop of the new Mac.

If that works you can try installing 10.6 from the new mac to the hard drive of the old mac.
