Transfer my purchases to my new apple id?

Before you judge me, please read on...

1. I have seen many posts here about people asking how to transfer their purchases to another apple id. And I see people fighting about how that is piracy and all that. So let me make it clear...

I am rebooting my digital life (so to speak) and am going to make a new apple ID as well (along with new phone number, new social network profiles, email ids etc...).

I would like to tranfer my 100s of dollars worth of app/music and other purchases like itunes match, storage space etc to my new ID. infact I dont want it to be available on the older ID AT ALL!

Is it possible?

2. Also, just to clearify a doubt, if i ever shift to another eco system (say microsoft or android) is it possible to transfer all my purchases to an ID belonging to ANOTHER person?

two plain and simple questions. Please DO NOT start a war over this!!!

Even linking me to the appropriate Apple support article would be great help.

Purchases are not transferable from one Apple ID to another.

Here is the applicable section of the iTunes Terms and Conditions which essentially states the above in many more words:

a. Scope of License: This license granted to you for the Licensed Application by Licensor is limited to a nontransferable license to use the Licensed Application on any Apple-branded products running iOS (including but not limited to iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch) (“iOS Devices”) or Mac OS X (“Mac Computers”), as applicable (collectively, “Apple Device(s)”) that you own or control and as permitted by the usage rules set forth in the Mac App Store, App Store and iBookstore Terms and Conditions (the “Usage Rules”). This license does not allow you to use the Licensed Application on any Apple Device that you do not own or control, and except as provided in the Usage Rules, you may not distribute or make the Licensed Application available over a network where it could be used by multiple devices at the same time. You may not rent, lease, lend, sell, transfer redistribute, or sublicense the Licensed Application and, if you sell your Mac Computer or iOS Device to a third party, you must remove the Licensed Application from the Mac Computer or iOS Device before doing so. You may not copy (except as expressly permitted by this license and the Usage Rules), decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, attempt to derive the source code of, modify, or create derivative works of the Licensed Application, any updates, or any part thereof (except as and only to the extent that any foregoing restriction is prohibited by applicable law or to the extent as may be permitted by the licensing terms governing use of any open-sourced components included with the Licensed Application). Any attempt to do so is a violation of the rights of the Licensor and its licensors. If you breach this restriction, you may be subject to prosecution and damages.

hi AnaMusic,

So if i create a new apple id and link it to my iOS devices & mac, I can still access my purchases from the old apple id, but should continue with the new purchases on the new id. is that what?

is there a way from stopping people from being able to send me email on the associated icloud id. i would like to prevent people from doing that.

Then what you want to do is simple:

  1. Go to http://appleid.apple.com/ and click the "Manage your Apple ID" button.
  2. Sign in with your existing Apple ID - the one with all your purchases.
  3. You may need to provide the answers to your "Security Questions" now or in the next step.
  4. Next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address click Edit.
  5. Provide a new Apple ID that conforms to the listed criteria:

User uploaded file

This is the important part - you cannot specify an email address that is "already in use" either by yourself or anyone else. There is no way around that. If the email address you want to use is already a "Rescue email address" or "Alternate Email Address" associated with any existing Apple ID that you created, you need to remove it first.

Click Save Changes at the bottom.

You may receive a confirmation email so be sure you have access to the email address you specified.

Once changed, all your previous purchases will carry over to the newly renamed Apple ID.

If you wish, you can change your name, mailing address, phone numbers, etc on that same site.

If you are getting marketing or other unwanted emails from Apple, they always have a link that you can use to stop them.

I believe this will accomplish what you need to do.

As far as I know an Apple ID you created may not be terminated or erased, but that's not to say it can't be done. If you want to change your Apple ID to another one that you already created, it would be necessary to delete that Apple ID first. You may be able to get iTunes Store Support to do that. I have not attempted to do this myself.

When you log in again to Apple Support Communities using this new Apple ID, your existing Apple Support Communities name will still be AceNeerav. There is no way to change that.

beautiful! now how can i make that apple id be a new icloud account? cause when i go to icloud.com it asks me to sign in with my 'apple id'. it doesn't give me any option to create a new one.

currently my apple id is...

identifier@mac.com

my email address is identifier@icloud.com and identifier@icloud.com

i want my apple id to me identifier2@icloud.com. people should no longer be able to communicate with me on identifier@icloud.com

I hope I'm not confusing you...

Can I change the name of my Apple ID?
Yes. For example, if you get a new email address, you can change your Apple ID from your old address to your new address. For more information, follow the steps in this article.

Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs cannot be renamed.

😟

So then I'll have to start over with a new email id, which offcourse I cannot directly get from icloud. so then how do i go about this? i don't get it.

lets say i am a new user and want to set up an account with apple with the email address that apple provides. what do i do? how do i get an email address that apple provides?

So if I'm getting this right... I need to have an email address from a provider OTHER THAN Apple, right? I cannot start off completely with Apple?

I wanted to have all my apple devices linked completely with Apple. An Apple email address, an apple itunes store account, etc. Its pretty much that way now, except that it was built during the @mac.com days and I wanted to change what preceds @mac.com to something else.

An apple id used to be something given be apple back in 08. Now it needs to be an already functioning email address. weird!
