Short battery life

I have an iPhone 4S that's about a year old. Recently, I have noticed the battery dying more and more quickly after a charge. After fully charging all night, the battery is dead within 3-4 hours. I have also noticed that the phone gets extremely warm while charging. I have already restored the iPhone and reinstalled the latest OS, but it did not help. What else can I do?
