Hello, I'm having trouble with my printer. Its set up wirlessly and appears to have a loss of communication each time I go to print a document. The computer is never switched of and only the display sleeps.
It's impossible to help you Luckybob unless you complete a profile that lets us know what verison of OS X is installed and what you have done to trouble shoot the issue.

If when printing something the communication error occurs I can normally pause print job. Switch off printer and switch back on again and it works....any suggestions as to what it might be?
What exactly is a BT home hub? if BT stands for blue-tooth then that is probably your issue. You should use Wi-Fi router.
Bt home hub is my wifi router.

Thanks for the clarification, tell use EXACTLY what steps you took to install the printer and if you verified it is designed to work with Mountain Lion and finally did you ever have it working on your iMac?
Always used on iMac. Has never been reinstalled since using snow leopard had just remained as the default printer. I am going to hazard a guess you are going to suggest uninstalling and reinstalling in mountain lion?

Nope I would never suggest that for a simple printer issue.
Open System Preferences - Print & Scan and if you can see the printer on the left hand box then highlight it and right click and choose Reset Printing System.... It will look like:

Tried this but to no avail......still get the same problem. When I reinstalled the printer I had two options
I could install as a Canon MP560 or Bonjour - Chose the Canon MP560 option as this is what was used previously?
Any ideas.....
