ICloud available to use with IMac (Intel)?

My bellsouth.net email was hacked and I want to set up a new email account. I set up an ICloud account through my IPhone 4S. Can I set up and use ICloud for my IMac OS X Version 10.6.8? All updates on the Mac appear current.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:

You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

The tips from seventy one and klaus1 are correct, particularly that the hacks are not supported by Apple.

One of the keys is you must use iCloud as your primary source for Contacts and Calendars. That is, when you want to make additions or changes to either your calendar or contacts you really MUST do it from the web interface to iCloud. Otherwise you may wind up with duplicates.
