How do i update my software if i have mountain lion OS X Version 10.6.8?

Just wondeing how I can update my software to the latest one for my imac.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu and check the processor.


If it's a Core Duo Mac, it already has the latest.

If it's a Core 2 Duo or better Mac, open the Mac App Store and try purchasing Mountain Lion. If you're told it's incompatible and the computer has at least 2GB of RAM, phone the online Apple Store and order a download code for Lion.
