firefox warning
How do I stop getting the dialog box warning that "Firefox.app is an application downloaded from the internet. Are you sure you want to open it?" every time I open Firefox in Snow Leopard?

Move it out of the disk image that it is in into the Applications folder.
It is in the applications folder. The disk image has been deleted from the computer
Are you an admin user for your computer?
yes
My guess would be that you have somehow managed to copy the disk image to the application folder, but not actually installed the software.
If Firefox is in the Applications folder, then in Terminal in Utilities, copy/paste and hit return
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Firefox.app
This will remove the quarantine attribute from Firefox.app and stop the popups.
I have the same problem every time. I've tried throwing away the Firefox folder in user/library/application support and reinstalling Firefox. When I enter xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Firefox.app in the terminal, I get this error: xattr: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/Applications/Firefox.app' I tried deleting the ".app" and got this error: xattr: No such file: /Applications/Firefox
I entered this into Terminal and it worked: sudo xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Firefox.app/
Here is the popup:
"Firefox.app" is an applicaiton downlaoded form the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?
I got rid of this by making sure when I:
* QUIT FIREFOX
* GET INFO on the Firefox.app
* Make sure that the LOCKED item is NOT CHECKED
* Make sure your account has READ & WRITE Privileges...
* CLICK the Cog Wheel under that and APPLY TO ENCLOSED ITEMS'
Worked for me.
