A leopard printing server abandons jobs

I have set up a printing sever with OSX 10.5.8 Leopard running in iMac G5.

A printer RICHO GX e5500 is connected to the USB port of the server and shared.

It is possible to print a single page per a job from the client of OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion.

However, a job, which consists of multiple peges, is abandoned by the server.

No print is obtained.

The printer monitor always says that the job is abandoned.

It seems possible to print 2 pages per a job.

However, the server won't print a job which consists of multiple pages such as 5.

Of cousrse, I have isntalled the printer driver both to the server and to the client.

Are there any further settings required either for the server or for the client?

The details of the hardwares are the followings:

The server: iMac G5 (PowerMac 12.1) with 1.5GB RAM

The client: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2010) with 12GB RAM

WiFi connection is used both for the server and the client.

And the printer is a kind of ink jet.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Mountain Lions

Hello,

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

10.5/10.6/10.7 instructions...

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.

if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.

Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.

No files, canceling job!

Seems like some Disk/Directory problem, if you haven't, on both...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

I' sorry that I can't undestand "Not so much Repair Permissions" you said in the previous reply.

Do you mean that I could not repair the permission of the disk which I booted from?

Using Disk Utility,

I was able to repair the permission of the disk from which I safe booted Leopard.

However, the same error mesages appear in the /var/log/cups/error_log on the Leopard server.

"Try Disk Utility

1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.

2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)

*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*

3. Click the First Aid tab.

4. Select your Mac OS X volume.

5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.

If 10.7.0 or later...

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Feb 5, 2013 4:23 AM in response to BDAqua

I repaired the disks of both the server and the client

and the permissions on both,

booting from other volumes.

After that, I tried to print 4 pages per a job but in vain.

The cups error_log on the server is as the following:
