Verification on imessage

Please help me. When I am trying to set up Imessage on my Ipad touch Ia am having problem. I am brought to the sign in menu where I enter my Apple ID and password with no problems . I am then brought to another screen which shows me my email address and given the option to tick that I would like to use this email address as my Imessage contact. I then have problems at the next option , I tick the box on this Email address , but fail to Get passed this. I Get a message that my account is being Verified but I am just getting brought back to the first sign on screen over and over. There is no problem with my email and no message displays problems with a password but it just keeps taking me back to the first sign on screen after the verification. I don't know how to get passed this. HELP!!!
