As you know the apple tv has "always on" HDMI.

The setup :
- TAKE HDMI Output from your TV reciever, hook it up to the first input of the SANOXY 3 Port HDMI Mini Switch Switcher Selector and Then HDMI output of the switch hook it up to your TV Input. A blue indicator light will light up showing which input is live.
- PLUG IN Belkin WeMo Plug in the Sewell 2 Port 1x2 Powered Hdmi Splitter into the belkin WeMo , this will be your hdmi switch for the apple tv. it will turn off the hdmi.
- Make sure apple tv is unplugged. plug in Hdmi from apple TV into the Input of the Sewell 2 Port 1x2 Powered Hdmi Splitter , plug hdmi cable from the output of the splitter into the 2nd input of the SANOXY 3 Port HDMI Mini Switch Switcher Selector. plug in apple tv
- Go through the steps to setup the Belkin WeMo.

it is crucial the tv reciever is hooked up to the first input . that has priority.
when you turn on the apple tv from your wemo app. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/wemo/id511376996?mt=8
the screen will go blank or show no input then it apple tv will show up ... make sure apple tv is set to always on to go back to TV , just turn it off with the wemo app. it will switch automaticly.
