iphoto book - book assembles but won't load but still charges my debit card

Can anyone please help as Apple obviously can't be bothered to get back to me even though they promised they would.

I have been trying to buy an iphoto book and when I press 'buy book' it lets me proceed, requires my apple id log on and my card security details.

The process then starts: the book compiles but then encounters an 'error' and asks me if I want to retry.

I did this several times last night - using support communities I even tried in safe mode - but each time the same thing happened so I assumed that the order had been cancelled and that there was a problem with my system.

I was then rather surprised to have been contacted by the fraud department of my bank telling me my account had been charged for this one transaction 8 times even though nothing is showing up in my order history.

I contacted apple this morning who said they would investigate and get back to me - they haven't.

No payments are showing in my itunes account.

2 questions:

Why can't the book upload?

Would the transactions be visible anywhere other than through my itunes account?

Boot into Safe Mode, Mac OS X: Starting up in Safe Mode, and first create a PDF file of the book as described in this Apple Document, iPhoto '11: Preview a book, card, or calendar before you order or print it.

Proof the book with the PDF file before ordering. Then order the book while in the Safe Mode.

Keep the PDF file to compare with the printed copy when you receive it.

Same thing still happening - I've followed all the instructions above, I have even gone back to changing the theme of the book and still it won't upload after assembling, and when I try in safe boot, iphoto closes 'unexpectedly'

I've looked through the report and it seems this is the problem -

Application Specific Information:

*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** +[NSString stringWithUTF8String:]: NULL cString'

any ideas what an 'uncaught exception' is?
