iTunes Match, adding existing songs to libary

Hi All,

Ok, I have most of my music matched/uploaded to iTunes match. I've backed up all the music to an external hard drive and wiped my itunes folder clean. Now on my external hard drive I have a mix of the songs matched/uploaded iTunes match and also new music I've not imported into itunes yet.

Does anyone know if I copy all the music back into the iTunes folder and then add the complete libary back to iTunes will match recgnoise the already matched songs or will I end up with a bunch of duplicates? In total approx 8,000 songs of which 6,500 have been previously added to ITunes match.

Hi,

iTunes Match will recognise previously matched and uploaded songs so should not create duplicates.

I have not had to readd complete library but have accidentally deleted a few hundred tracks. When I readded the match process was very quick. Previously uploaded tracks did not go through normal upload process as match recognised them

One oddity was that some previously matched track were now uploaded.

No duplicate entries were made.

Thanks Jimzgoldfinch, I've just tried it with a few albums and no duplicates. Here goes with 8,000 songs

Ok that didnt work out quite as planned. On the positive iTunes match recgnoised any duplicates and highlighted them so they were easliy deleted. On the negative any name changes or album consolidation that I had previsouly made was removed, my libary looks like a bomb blew up in it. Alot of organising to do 😟
