Can I delete music off my pc and still the music will be present in the icloud

I'm thinking of subscribing to iCloud iTunes - what I need to know is do I still need to keep all my music on my PC if its all stored in the iCloud? I am rapidly running out of space on my PC and I am hoping that If I delete my music it will still be located in the iTunes cloud.
