3194 error when trying to update 3gs to IOS 6.01

I have tried everything suggested so far. Deleting the ipsw file and having download again via itunes, deleting the phone backups taken todate and then creating a new one before doing the update. Also opened the two different ports in Windows firewall (80, 443) for iTtunes. In the updater logs it states this device is not eligible for this build????

It was fine for all subsequent IOS upgrades and I have been staying at 5.1.1 until the apps had been revised for 6.01.

No this phone is not jailbroken nor has it ever been.. The below are some of the lines from the updater log

Try to use an different cable, try different USB port. If this don't works try to put iPhone in DFU mode. Maybe than you can restore via iTunes.

I have finally resolved the problem. In desperation, I looked at the HOSTS file and found the below in it.

74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

I have no idea how or when it got put in the hosts file. I created a new HOSTS file with that line commented out and rebooted my Windows PC.

The upgrade to 6.0.1 is currently in progress as I am typing this reply.

Thanks Melle123, while your suggestion did not fix it, it got me looking even deeper.
