Help with Powering up Apple TV

I cannot get any lights to come on my Apple TV suddenly, after it has worked quite well since I bought it last month. I've checked the obvious - power to outlet, cord, changed battery in remote control, but still cannot seem to power it up. I would appreciate any advice - I'm to the point where I believe it must be defective. Thanks in advance.
