How do I retrieve lost notes and pictures

From a recent back-up.

Yeah, that's what I thought but the backup did not recover the notes or photos. *****.

Not sure about pictures, but for iphone notes:

After many hours of trying everything to retrieve my lost notes (several just disappeared overnight for no reason) it dawned on me that they were linked to one of my email accounts (In my case yahoo).

I logged into that account directly from the yahoo site (not iphone mail!) and "Voila!" all of my notes, even the disappeared ones, were there!

Took some cut & pasting and I'm back in business.

Thank you so much, your comment helped get back my notes. I was just adding a new note and all my notes disappeared for no reason! Then I came here and saw this conversation and found my notes in my yahoo account, which is great but I'm upset coz they were saved there! What if my account got hacked and someone got my notes? It happened to me before, so I guess I'll have to write my notes the old fashion way!

I lost an iphone, so when I got my new iphone 5 and started to set it up. It keept my contacts, and lost my notes and ALL of my pictures. Can I do a restore on my new phone to get all the things I lost??? This is really bad? No, I had not backed up my new phone... yes, NOT a smart move. Does anyone know what to do?
