I'm trying to install a microsoft update on my mac and can't as I keep getting a message saying I have to close the following programmes:
Microsoft database Daemon
Sync servicesagent
Unfortunately, I can't find either to shut down (not there in force quit window) and so can't update my software.
Help please?

If you click "Try Later" on the installer screen, and then click "Try Again" when it appears, it should take care ofthe problem.
Great Solution! I think you might mean "Install later" (versus "try later") 🙂 I found that I had to hit "Install later" then "Install Update" a couple of times. May be easier than booting in safe mode.

I had the same issue as readHeadT with the database Deamon and I followed the simple advice provided by Scuttle62 and it worked well... many thanks for the simple advice making a big difference...

All you have to do is go into Utilities and start the Activity Monitor and pick Processes and All Processes from the top dropdown. Then look for that Deamon and just stop it.
