iCal syncing events back in 2011

Hi can anyone help?

I've recently upgraded to 10.8.2 and i seem to be having an issue with ical - namely, when sent a meeting request, ical seems to think that the event is a completely different event that occured back in 2011!

I've changed all my preferences so that the time zones are all correct (not that a timezone would influence a 2 year error) and have restarted etc but it's still happening.

Any ideas?

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)
