comcast password changes

I have both icloud and comcast email accounts on my iMac and iPad2.

I use my Apple ID as password for the iCloud mail accounts on the iMac, iPad, and iCloud Web accounts (Chrome).

I would like to update the password for my Comcast account. Must I change the individual passwords on the iMac Mail, iPad, and the Comcast/Xfinity Web accounts, or can I update just one? Or can they have different passwords?

You will have to change the password on each device and the website, the account has 1 password, obviously the devices must have the same 1 password.

The subject of the Apple ID is confusing. I should have worded my statement more clearly, and accurately!.

My understanding is that the Apple ID is my primary email address.

"An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID."

So.....I use my primary email address as the Apple ID for Mac Mail on my iMac, iPad, and for iCloud Web access. The common password associated with all these accounts is a "strong" password. It's my understanding that I cannot use different passwords for different accounts.

I appreciate you comments. Any further wisdom would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bo

You can use any password you choose on any account (provided that it is compliant with the account requirements), you may use the same password for all accounts if you choose, although security will be compromised that way.

I would stick with 'strong' passwords, but not the same password for all accounts (to avoid someone guessing or stealing 1 and thus having them all)
