Unable to add personal ringers to Tones list iPhone 5

I'm new to the iPhone. Thing i love MOST about a cellular device is customization. Wallpapers, apps, contact pics but MOST of all; PERSONAL RINGERS!!

Now if the process to get tones customized to Apple's specs isn't hard enough, the addition procedure makes that a cake walk.

Ok let's get to it, this is what i'm working with

iPhone5 (latest OS)

iTunes (latest OS)

Now the ONLY option i have selected under the "Summary" tab is "Manually manage music and videos" i dunno if this is the root of my problem.

Anyways, after downloading this ringtone app and making a few ringers, and saving them to a folder i realize i couldn't just drag and drop onto the "Tones" tab on iTunes. So i selected the "Sync tones" option AND THEN i was able to move the tones into the list and they were available to use on the phone HOWEVER, i didnt read the alert that popped up after clicking the "Sync Tones" option and i wiped my phone. 😐

Ok, so i've now reloaded my phone's photo/music/video libraries BUT NOW i can't add new ringers. When i drag/drop the tones into the Tones list, the tone adds to the list BUT NEVER SUCCESFULLY LOADS AND BECOMES AVAILABLE FOR USE ON THE PHONE!!

I'm pretty sure i can add them if i do the Sync Tones thingy again but it'll wipe my phone again [NOT HAPPENING]. So i guess my ultimate question is:

TO ADD TONES TO MY PHONE WILL I ALWAYS HAVE TO USE THE "SYNC TONES" OPTION?? 😕

IF THE ANSWER TO THAT IS YES THEN I'M READY TO SELL THIS THING... 😠
