Can automator create a Text from data on micrsoft Excel?

I use Macros to create a text file from MS Excel. Can Automator create a text file from MS Excel? If it can, does anyone have steps to on how to create a text file? If it can't does anyone have a suggestion on how to create a text file from MS Excel for Mac?
