Today a skype type message popped up on my computer telling me that my protection service was not active and my automated system was performing below capabilities. The message gave a web site for me to to to. It was www.help@mo.com or something like that

Question: Today a "skype type" message popped up while I was working. The message basically said that my computer protection was not active and that my system was running below par. It gave me a web site to go to but I could not understand all of it. It was something like www. helpmo.com

It is this legitimate or just a hoax. If it is for real, what do I do. I cannot call Apple now as I am out of the country and do not have acces to a phone.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Probably wouldn't have affected your Mac, but probably would infect a PC. Usually best to ignore messages like this or emails that are directed to your SPAM folder

You posted in the OS 9 and below (prior to year 2000) forum instead of the MacBook Pro or Mountain Lion forum. To get answers to your question, next time post in the proper forum. See https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa
