What is required to play a .wmv file on a MAC OS X 10.6.8?
I have a MAC desktop with an MAC OS X 10.6.8 and have tried everything known to man to be able to play an .wmv file.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

If it's an unprotected file, the free version of Flip4Mac. If it's a DRM protected file or one containing malware, nothing.

Thank you. I have downloaded the free version Flip4Mac and it isn't a DRM protected file and shouldn't contain malware and it still doesn't work.
Thank you for your reply.
Not all of Microsoft's codecs have been licensed to be ported to other platforms, so it's quite possible that you cannot play that WMV in Mac OS X, even though it does not contain DRM. You can try asking for assistance in the Flip4Mac forums:
and they may be able to help. Otherwise you'll probably have to use a Windows system, either on your Mac or another computer, to view that video.
Regards.
Unfortunately, this attempt failed as well.
Thank you for your efforts.
I have reached the conclusion that you are probably correct.
Thank you.
