Imac (Mini DVI) to macbook pro (thunderbolt) display query

If I have a mini DVI to VGA adaptor, can i then use a VCA (male) to thunderbolt to use my Imac as a second screen for my macbook?

No, but some newer iMacs can be used as displays with Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt cables.
