Remote app no longer works

Same problem here after updating my iPad to iOS 6.1 and the Apple TV to the newest firmware. I open the remote app then I select Apple TV the screen switches to connecting to Apple TV but it never finishes it is stuck at connecting to Apple TV. The App has no problem finding the Apple TV but it seems unable to connect, home sharing is activated on the

App, the iPad and the Apple TV.

Tried resetting setting and factory restore on the Apple TV, deleting and installing the Remote App in my iPad 3 but the problem persist.

On a twist the the Remote App on my iPhone 4S updated to iOS 6.1 works perfectly and it has no issues connecting to the Apple TV it seems to be an iPad issue. I will tried connecting to the Apple TV with an updated iPad 2 later and I will report back.

Same situation here.. I have updated my Apple TV, iPhone and iPad to the latest updates today (Jan 28th) and the ipad version of the remote app stopped working. The iphone still connects perfectly but the ipad gets stuck on the connecting page.

Everytime we get an update we lose something last time I was unable to access the music on my PC and the music app crashes when I try accessing my PC Library from the iPad and library doesn't show up completely and now we got this. Great job Tim Cook, fire more Forstalls. There is a reason the stock price is dropping the quality is deteriorating people are leaving Apple and Cook is sitting on Job's past glories.

Your problem is that you're using a PC. Get a Mac and things would work better. Deep down, you know it's true.

You think you're smart, while you're just another idiot who posts just top post. What does iPad connecting with Apple TV have anything to do with having Mac. I thought that Apple user like it because Apple is dumb free, but they are just really dumb!

The problem was updating the Apple TV, not updating iPads or iPhones.

Apple needs a new testing team, current one *****.

Having the same problem with the remote app on my iPad 2 after upgrading to ios 6.1. Logged in and out of home sharing, also logged in and out of iTunes and no luck. The remote app will not connect to the Apple TV. Also the remote app on my iPhone 5 ios 6 .1 is working perfectly

Same thing here. Only when I try to use the Apple IR remote, the Apple TV just blinks 3 times with no other response.

Having a similar issue. Just updated my Apple TV but my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 are still on 6.0.2. iPhone remote app works just fine but the app on my iPad lost its connection after the Apple TV update.

Thank god its not me . I have just bought my first apple product ipad 4 and had difficulty from start. the remote app worked fine but could not get itunes to work properly. then updated ipad to ios 6.1 when prompted can now access itunes but remote app just spins. Followed all advise by apple help to no avail. IS IT ALWAYS THIS DIFFICULT WITH APPLE we are talking 2hours of my life here

I resat the network settings and the remote.app started working again.

I went from "manual" network settings to "automatic". So if you have it on automatic now, note down and change the IP to static. It's worth a try.

Pretty much identical problem here, except that my ATV update failed (over wifi) and required a USB restore through iTunes. After this, my ipad 2 remote app no longer worked. It can 'see' the ATV, but when you try connecting it just spins and says "connecting" but never connects. My iPhone 4 remote app on the other hand works just fine. Both iPad and iPhone are on IOS 6.01. I will try updating to. 6.1 later on to see if this helps and will post an update later.

For me, this morning's Remote 3.1 update fixed it. I'm still running iOS 6.0.1 and tried everything but a network reset last night.

Agreed! Thank you! Too bad they took so long to post the Remote update. I checked it multiple times and it kept saying I was up to date... until I got your message.
