2.4 ghz wifi doesn't work

Hi,

I have 2 networks in my house one 2.4 ghz and one 5 ghz all running on apple routers. Normally I connect all of my iDevices to the 2.4 ghz network to have a little greater range. Recently my iPad 2nd gen no longer sees my 2.4 ghz network and will only connect to my 5 ghz. It will not appear if I go into the wifi settings as if it doesn't exist. But all of my other devices still connect to it normally. I have tried to restart the network, restart the iPad, restore the iPad software, and so far nothing works. Can't think of what happened except if maybe my kid dropped the iPad or something. Any ideas on how I can troubleshoot this? Thanks,

rc

Some things to try first:

1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

• Launch Settings app

• Tap on Wi-Fi

• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list

• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Well could it be a software bug in the new ios7.1?

Hello all,

I have been using my ipad2 for 2 years, all worked fine until I installed ios7.1

I have 2 netgear routers (2.4Ghz) at home which works fine with my nexus7 tablet, Lenovo & Dell Laptops. The ipad2 recognise the wi-fi network but cannot connect to it but it works very well at work on their dual band (5Ghz) network.

I raised a call with Apple and follow all instructions, including re-setting my ipad to factory settings but to no avail, their support team basically said we can't help you go to an applestore.

So since my configuration hasn't changed I believe it is a bug. If I was allowed to downgrade I would be able to check the wi-fi connectivity but I can't.
