I Photo Back-Up - lost Events Folders?

I copied and pasted (by selecting all EVENTS) to my external hard drive from my Mac Book Pro. 22K photos copied across fine. I now know that I should have just dragged and dropped the I Photo Library and will do that next time!!

But when I went back into I Photo on my Mac Book - I now have all the photos - but all but one of my events has disappeared! My wife has gone crazy - so I really need help in re-establishing my Events folders as they were? Can you offer any help, please!

Are you saying that all of your photos are in one large event? If so then restore your backjup form before this happened - you can resplit the event according to your preference settings by selecting it and using the Autosplit selected event command

I am relieved that you feel this is an easy fix.

Can you pls explain (in simple step terms) how to 'restore my back up from before this happened'?

Please put it in simple terms - I am new to this stuff. Thanks. i.e. 'drag and drop your file into I Photo', or 'import it from your external hard drive'....and then what?
