Sharing Problem - Read/Write issue

Hi there,

We have a Mac OSX Server with multiple users.

We have a issue where a shared folder located on the server will not allow for files saved by a user to be edited and resaved by another.

We need to manually go to the server and change file permissions to get around this.

We have set permissions in file sharing settings on the server itself.

Parent/Child and all that jazz has been set so that any new folders/files created under that umbrella should be shared with everyone but this is not the case.

Thanks

Kris

Hello - I have overcome this issue by using Access Control Lists. Are you using Access Control Lists? See reference article at: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH8475

There is a 'wheel' icon below the names box. It is a drop down menu. One of the items is 'Propogate Permissions'. What you want to do is select that and then put a check mark on all of the items in the resulting box. Click 'Ok'. When it is done, click on the 'Save' button in the lower right corner. (Above assumes that you have the Shared folder you want to alter permissions on selected at the top of Server Admin under 'File Sharing').
