You're not alone. Hopefully Apple will give us an update soon.
The Apple Remote app works on my iPhone after the update, however not on the iPad.
Same with my first Generation Ipad. won't connect after updating apple tv. tried all the troubleshooting measures they list on this site and none worked.
Exact same problem here. iPad2 Remote app cannot connect after updating the Apple TV 3. iPhone(s) can connect with no problem. Don't these guys TEST/QA before releasing??? What's happening with apple?
I had the same problem with my iPad2 and tried many things without success. However, someone on another thread suggested using another remote to restart through Settings > General > Restart (NOT Reset) in Apple TV menu. I tried that and finally got my iPad2 to work properly with the Remote app.
Try restarting your Apple TV. You can access the RESTART in settings > general >restart. Restart is the last item in General menu items. I had to restart the Apple TV twice to connect successfully with my iPad 2 with ATV3.
I've restarted several times, deleted and re-installed the Remote app on the iPad, and re-configured all settings. Multiple times. Still not working. All the while, the Remote app on the iPhone continues to work fine.
I have also unplugged the Apple TV from power as tech support suggested, deleted app, restarted router, reinstalled iTunes, opened my window and washed my hair and still nothing.
Is there a way to install the remote control app of the iPhone on the iPad?
After the iPad2 and ATV3 went to sleep, I launched the Remote on my iPad to connect to ATV, but It's not making the connection anymore. I tried restarting the ATV, but with the same result.
Reinstall the Remote app using the app store in your idevice. I like your hair washing comment.😁
I think there's nothing to do but wait. The fact that many of us are experiencing the same problem with the iPad app, and the fact that the iPhone app still works fine, tells me it's a glitch in the software - maybe Apple TV 5.2, maybe iOS 6.1 (I updated to both yesterday).
Meanwhile, since Apple does not read these forums, I suggest we all leave comments on their feedback page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html
That way they'll at least know a bunch of us are having this issue.
Hopefully Apple will issue a fix soon.
Here how I make it work temporarily:
I turn the app on it, it tries to connect, I restart the the Apple TV while the app is on, it connects and works.
In the settings of the app, click on keep to connected so it can stay alive in the background for a while or until the Apple TV goes to sleep. Then to reconnect you have to restart the whole process. Let me know if this works for you. It is not a solution at all, maybe they want us to buy a Bluetooth keyboard now.
Same here after the last updates my iPhone 5 works great with Remote App on the Apple TV 3 but my iPad 4 just sets with connecting showing and never does so Apple please send out a fix.
Update your remote app.
The latest update for Remote App this afternoon fixed it.
