Erase all content and settings.

I tried erasing all the content and settings of my iPhone. It told me that it might take an hour for the process to be completed. I've waited for hours but it is still stucked on the apple logo. It will shut off because of low battery but when I plug it in a charger, the apple logo shows up. Then nothing else will happen. What exactly happened? How can I fix this?

iPhone 3G, iOS 4.2

Try DFU Mode Restore. DFU Mode. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. DFU Mode can be difficult to enter sometimes, just keep trying. DFU Mode is a black, blank screen with iTunes saying Recovery Mode.

Erase all content and settings.
