do you have the extended Applecare warranty - or is the phone still covered under the 1 year warranty (probably not)
I had the same problem in reverse on my iphone 5 - screen would not come back on after a call - i called Apple and they sent me a replacement phone the next day - but it was covered under warranty
sounds like you have done most of the trouble shooting - only thing i can thing of (and its a pain) is restore the phone as new ( you will have to reset all your settings- but if you back it up 1st and do a sync after the restore all your content should come back - dont restore from backup though since it could be the backup is corrupt

whoops - meant do a sync before your restore as new - not just a backup

Hello, and thank you for replying.
I have restored it, but i backed it up before I did, once i restored it, I restored it from the back up, that i had done previously. I do not have warrenty under this iPhone which is quite fustrating.
Sadly this did not solve my problem; the proximity sensor still does not respond to my face during calls.
I think my only option (last choice) is to restore it completely and start afresh, which is annoying since i'll lose all my game data from Jetpack Joyride .
Thank you for your response though, it was certainly helpful.

Just did a complete restore, started afresh (as a new iPhone).
I even updated to 6.1
Still did not solve my problem, if anyone else has some insight for this ongoing issue, it would be much appreciated.

the only thing i can think of is getting an out of warrant repair (exchange) from Apple - I think it $199 but the Applecare folks can give you complete details
