My proximity sensor on my iPhone 4, does not black out my screen during calls.

Hello all.
My proximity sensor on my White iPhone 4 (16GB) does not black out my screen during calls.
In other words, the screen stays illuminated. The auto-brightness feature works on my iPhone, so

I know the sensor is not faulty. I am not sure what to do. I have reset all my settings and

done both Hard/Soft reboots.Looking for some insight as to fix the problem.I do not have a screen protector, nor a case on the iPhone.

Thank you.

iPhone 4, iOS 6.0.1

do you have the extended Applecare warranty - or is the phone still covered under the 1 year warranty (probably not)

I had the same problem in reverse on my iphone 5 - screen would not come back on after a call - i called Apple and they sent me a replacement phone the next day - but it was covered under warranty

sounds like you have done most of the trouble shooting - only thing i can thing of (and its a pain) is restore the phone as new ( you will have to reset all your settings- but if you back it up 1st and do a sync after the restore all your content should come back - dont restore from backup though since it could be the backup is corrupt

Hello, and thank you for replying.

I have restored it, but i backed it up before I did, once i restored it, I restored it from the back up, that i had done previously. I do not have warrenty under this iPhone which is quite fustrating.

Sadly this did not solve my problem; the proximity sensor still does not respond to my face during calls.
I think my only option (last choice) is to restore it completely and start afresh, which is annoying since i'll lose all my game data from Jetpack Joyride 😝.

Thank you for your response though, it was certainly helpful.
