I don't Know what to do since IOS 6.1 is corrupted during the download.

I went to restore my iPad and itunes states "The software for the iPad was corrupted during download."

I can't get my iPad to work now that I have this problem.

Is anyone else getting this message when they download IOS 6.1 through iTunes? If so,

Can you please tell me what to do to download the software so I can get my iPad up and running?

Do I have to wait for another update from apple to come out to correct this issue?

Thanks for your help,

iPad 2, iOS 6.1, IOS 6.1 WON'T DOWNLOAD.

I am using a G5 PowerMac, OS 10.5.8. A co-worker experienced this same problem. My solution was:

1) at Redmond Pie http://www.redmondpie.com/download-ios-6.1-final-for-iphone-ipad-and-ipod-touch- direct-links/ I downloaded the  iPad2,1_6.1_10B141_Restore.ipsw

2) moved that file to Users/(Me)/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates

3) launched iTunes and connected the iPad

4) at the prompt (iTunes has detected an iPad in Recovery mode...) click "OK"

5) click "Restore"

This circumvents the downloading portion of the update process, which is apparently where the corruption occurs.

I'll hand the iPad back to my co-worker tomorrow and she can sync with her latest back-up (let this be a lesson to those who don't get at least one fairly recent and accessable back-up- the Cloud isn't always available without first re-entering a lot of info)

Hope this helps- my research indicates a widespread and frustrating problem here and the Apple Geniuses are a little behind on the solution

I agree. But the answer is yes. At least you are still under warranty. Good luck

Had the same problem. Called Apple support. They claimed it could be a network problem since I did the download over wifi. They told me to try again using Itunes. When that didn't work, they said it was a corrupted itunes and I reinstalled it. During the reinstall, I tried it on another computer and it still did not work. After reinstalling itunes, I still got the corrupt message. Apple told me to go to my local Apple store and try their network. I was told that would do the trick. Guess what? It did not restore on the Apple network and the "Genius" tech person said that this error was similar to the windows "blue screen of death" and they could not repair it. Since the Ipad 2 was out of warranty, they offered me a replacement for $249 (no thanks) and said it was just one of those things. If anybody finds a fix, please let me know. I guess the lesson learned is NEVER download a new update the first day.

I am having the exact same problem and tried all the remedies listed above.  I have an appt. this morning at the Apple store.  My ipad is under warranty - but can they really get away with their update killing the Ipad and we are out of luck?

Apple store confirmed today that many iPad 2 users downloading IOS 6.1 file will get a corrupt file that will NOT be able to be restored until Apple fixes files. They said that you must keep checking for new file so that IPad could be restored.

Just came from the Apple store where they tried to Restore and got the corrupt error message.  They replaced my Ipad (it was under warranty - thank goodness) and they the problem had nothing to do with the update.  Their explanation was that the software must have been corrupt to begin with and that's why it wouldn't allow the update. I have no idea what the truth is in all this.  They were not apologetic at all and did not seem to care when I expressed my concern about the fact I would have to buy a new one if the warranty had expired.  He claimed I was the first case he had of this since the update.  I find that hard to believe based on so many comments on the Internet.

I have the same problem tried to follow the steps  to fix it but in the end it always says software corrupted.! Maybe apple should do something bout this!!

The Apple store confirmed today that the file was corrupt from the beginning.

I was told by someone that you can find the IOS 6.1 software on the Internet. Just download it and that should do the trick. The apple team told me there is nothing they can do, so I suggest just go online. That is the best alternative than waiting for the support team to contact you.

Hope you are able to get up and running.

    Good luck.

I too have been having this problem.  Contacted support through chat.  Followed the same steps that I have been following. Had the same response, duh. So the Apple guy sends me to a senior Apple guy who reiterates what happened with the other guy and disconnects with me. Excellent support Apple.
